Helpdesk Technician

Helpdesk Technicians work directly with our clients, as well as other system engineers, to provide support on various support tickets to provide installation and support service for multiple customer networks. Primarily in-house support and responsible for working tickets of varying degrees of difficulty on our service desk. This is an excellent opportunity to work with top technology teammates, learn new skills, and advance your career in IT.

Ideal Candidate

  •  You must live in the Tampa, Florida area in order to be eligible for this position 
  • Our Corporate Headquarters is located in St. Petersburg, FL and this job will require being in the office during business hours 
  • We are looking for someone who is hungry to advance their career and learn to work with new products/solutions while gaining hands on experience with our rapidly expanding company 
  • We need someone who will be flexible with task assignments and does not mind working some extra hours while being a dedicated team player who is efficient and effective with communication 
  • This is an exciting and fast-paced environment, so we require quick learners who can adapt to constantly changing tasks/priorities regularly 
  • We will provide the required training to the right individual, but we are looking for someone who wants to make a career out of this as the role evolves in to something more 
  • This is not a 9 to 5 job for anyone on our team, so some night/weekend hours may be requested to accommodate for our large customers and their projects or cutover/maintenance windows 
  • There will be a 90 Day Temporary/Probationary period during which performance will be closely evaluated.  After this initial time frame, the right resources will then be eligible for compensation increases based upon proficiencies.

Logistics

  • Night and/or Weekend Hours can be expected regularly in order to keep up with fluctuating workloads and project driven cutover/migration schedules along & collaboration with our Offshore resources
  • Full-time Contractor paid Hourly on W9 or 1099 basis with expected hours per week to fall between 40-60 on average (with 40 Hours per Week being the minimum), but this could go up to 60 Hours or more based on project needs
  • Compensation is negotiable

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Basic Hardware – Support and troubleshooting, including identifying, using, and connecting hardware components and devices, as well as setting up and installing common peripheral devices
  • Basic Windows Operating Systems – Install and support Windows OS, including command line and client support
  • Desktop Support (Windows 10 and 11)
  • Server Support (Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022)
  • Basic Security – Identify and protect against security vulnerabilities for devices and their network connections, troubleshoot MFA/SSO tickets, assist with user lockouts & install/setup
  • Basic Anti-Virus Support and Remediation
  • Basic Mobile device support – Install and configure laptops and other mobile devices
  • Ability to escalate to higher level support, as required
  • After-hours Primary/Secondary support every now and then
  • Create/Update proper documentation, diagrams, and other detailed instructions
  • Dispatch Support (Answering Phones, Creating and Assignment of Tickets)

Requirements

  • Customer service: 2 years (Required)
  • IT MSP: 1 year (a plus) with IT support: 1 year (Required)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own reliable transportation.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft MCP, MCSA or MCSE, ITIL, ITSM, Comp TIA +, Helpdesk Habits etc. a plus.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical personnel with a patient and customer-oriented attitude. Proficiency in English, spoken and written, is a must.
  • IT literate – Advanced user level. The ability to keep up with & adapt to the fast-paced IT world preferred.
  • Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide services.
  • Understanding of operating systems, business applications, printing systems, and network systems, including diagnosing technical issues related to end-user hardware/software and network devices. Advanced experience working with the Microsoft 365 Platform is preferred.
  • 0-5 Years experience working either on a Helpdesk or for a Managed Service Provider (MSP)/IT Support Business; preferred.
  • Experience using a Ticketing system / RMM Tool software, providing support via remote tools, and handling Technical Service Tickets a plus.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills to keep Help Desk tickets in order and updated.
  • In-depth knowledge of diagnosing and resolving technical issues with computer systems and mobile devices onsite and remotely.
  • Proficiency with Windows Desktop & Server environments, Apple Computers & Apple /Android mobile devices, a plus.

Entry Level Network Engineer/Technician

  • Assist in configuring and maintaining network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
  • Perform routine network monitoring and troubleshooting to resolve connectivity issues.
  • Support network security initiatives, including firewall configurations, intrusion detection, and implementing security best practices.
  • Assist with MSP (Managed Service Provider) support, including managing client networks and resolving service requests.
  • Provide support for ticketing systems, ensuring timely resolution of network issues and escalating problems when necessary.
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of wired and wireless networks.
  • Help maintain and manage network documentation and diagrams.
  • Collaborate with senior network and security engineers on deploying solutions and upgrading existing systems.
  • Help manage IP addressing, subnetting, VLAN configuration, and security policies.
  • Participate in regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and patch management.
  • Work on a large portfolio of OEM solutions, gaining experience with leading technologies from various vendors.

Requirements

 

  • Associate degree in IT, Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Basic understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and security protocols.
  • Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools (ping, traceroute, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with a focus on learning and growth.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and participate in on-the-job training.
